Organisations and individuals that share our vision can apply for membership.

Benefits of joining the PLA include:

  • Staying up to date on policy changes affecting prison education
  • Learning about and sharing good practice
  • Being the first to hear about our events and awards
  • Receiving our reports and briefings
  • Joining the European Prison Education Association: a multinational network of prison education specialists

Organisations and individuals with lived experience of prison can become full members.

Full members have regular opportunities to contribute to PLA briefings, stand for election to and vote for the steering committee, and have their organisation’s name and logo included on the PLA website.

Other individuals can become associate members.

Organisations

Organisations that share the PLA’s vision can become full members. Annual fees for organisational membership are tiered:

  • Organisations with an income up to £500,000 £60
  • Organisations with an income from £500,000 to £1m £70
  • Organisations with an income from £1m to £10m £130
  • Organisations with an income over £10m £260

Individuals

Individuals with personal lived experience of prison can become full members and other individuals can become associate members. There is no charge for individual membership.

Individual members include prison teachers and officers, charity workers, researchers and people passionate about prison education.
